Right now at Strandvägen 5b in Stockholm, the opening party for the The MONOCLE X Malmsten Seasonal Shop is in full swing. To coincide with this international event, the studio has designed a wall in the store dedicated to Carl Malmsten and his legacy. Stefania and Anna Tribelhorn carried out the project with prints by Digaloo and vinyl text by Clarex.

The Spring Summer 2010 Lookbook for Rodebjer, with photography by Tobias Lundkvist and Martin Vallin was printed on Munken Elk paper, at Edita in Västerås last year.

Next stop for Swedish Fashion – Exploring a New Identity curated by Maria Ben Saad and produced by the Swedish Institute is Tokyo. The world touring exhibition opens at MOT on October 31. The studio is busy producing signs and a supplement to the catalogue. The Japanese version of the 3 meter banner was printed last week at Big Image under the supervision of Ulrika Hellberg.

This morning Rodebjer made a presentation of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection in the Stockholm store on Jakobsbergsgatan. Stefania Malmsten and Ulrika Hellberg at the Studio are currently working on the lookbook in a new generous format.

The cover for the Iaspis publication Voice Over was printed in the new Heidelberg Foilmaster at EkotryckRedners in Stockholm last week, under the supervision of Ulrika Hellberg and Stefania Malmsten. The binding is done at Norsborgs Bokbinderi today.

The 72-page inlay for the Iaspis publication Voice Over was printed in a web offset printing press at V-Tab in Västerås on May 16th, under the supervision of Ulrika Hellberg.

Iaspis will launch the new publication Voice Over, with contributions from artists Miriam Bäckström, Geist, Goldin+Senneby, Saskia Holmkvist and Fia-Stina Sandlund, in Venice June 4th. The publication, along with a bag and invites for the reception, is designed at the studio by Stefania Malmsten and Ulrika Hellberg. The invites, printed in offset and letterpress at EkotryckRedners in Stockholm under the supervision of Ulrika Hellberg, are being sent out today. Iaspis – the international program of the Visual Arts Fund, a branch of the Arts Grants Committee – is a new client this spring.

Am I Black Enough For You – A Documentary With HRH Billy Paul – directed by Göran Hugo Olsson, produced by Story and art directed by Stefania Malmsten – had its world premiere at Zita Cinema in Stockholm on Friday and got top reviews everywhere. 74 year old Billy Paul spent the week in Stockholm and made his first ever performance to a Swedish audience at Berns nightclub.

Swedish Fashion – Exploring a New Identity, is showing at The Fashion and Textile Museum in London until 17 May. Stefania Malmsten and Ulrika Hellberg went to London, along with the rest of the team, to oversee the installations in time for the opening.

The first version of the new malmsten.se, created by AGoodId and designed by Stefania Malmsten, was released earlier this week. Right now at Strandvägen 5b in Stockholm, the opening party for the new Malmstenbutiken is in full swing, celebrating the new space, the collaboration with Martin Bergström and of course the new graphic design, (by Stefania and Ulrika Hellberg) with drinks and music by Stuffe.

Carl Malmsten (1888–1972) is one of Sweden’s most famous furniture designers. He is also Stefania Malmsten’s great grandfather. In 1940 he opened his own store on Strandvägen 5b in Stockholm. Today the 300 m2 store, Malmstenbutiken, is run by Stefania’s uncle, Jerk Malmsten.
The studio is currently working on the delicate task of creating a new graphic identity for Malmstenbutiken along with the design for a brand new Malmsten website created by AGoodId.

Stefania Malmsten is currently working on a follow-up to the 2004 Liselotte Watkins-collaboration Watkins’ Heroine. Watkins’ Box of Pin Ups is an exclusive box with 36 printed portraits by Liselotte Watkins. Along with the box comes the album Watkins’ No 1, with photographs and sources of inspiration.

Miuccia Prada chose two of Liselotte Watkins’ drawings for the Miu Miu spring/summer 2008 collection, shown in Paris in October. The drawings feature portraits of Maria Eriksson from The Concretes and of Stefania Malmsten.

The world’s first Rodebjer store opened in Stockholm on friday. The store is designed by architect Ola Andersson at A1 Arkitekter with styling by set designer Liselotte Watkins. The concept was developed for Rodebjer by Ola Andersson, Stefania Malmsten and Liselotte Watkins. The graphic design; signs and a complete retail program is performed by Stefania Malmsten and Ulrika Hellberg at the studio.

Stefania Malmsten is one of the designers who’s contribution is featured in the very nice book Grafik 150. Stefanias work for Rodebjer is also featured in the new Victionary title Zoom In Zoom Out.

In the current 20th anniversary issue of Swedish magazine Cap & Design, you can find an interview with Stefania about being one of the four most mentioned people in the history of the magazine.

This summer Moderna Museet shows the American artist Paul McCarthy. The exhibition is the biggest survey of his art so far. The poster, adverts, folder and other communication material are designed by Stefania Malmsten and Jacob Huurinainen.

New client this spring is accessories designer duo David & Martin, for whom the studio is designing a visual identity and creating a new website together with AGoodID.

The studio is also working on the graphic identity for The National Council for Architecture, Form and Design together with associates Kingston.

We just got the news that Swedens most prestigious graphic design-prize, the Berling Prize, for 2006 goes to Stefania Malmsten. The prize will be presented May 16 at the Royal Library in Stockholm.

”Stefania Malmsten tilldelas Berlingpriset 2006 för att hon med tillit till den typografiska bokstavens elementära former, till dess kraft och skönhet, visar att traditionsmedvetande går att förena med nyskapande och personligt uttryck. Kingston design bureau are moving in! Creative director Johan Cnattingius, project manager Anna Engsner and graphic designer Anna Tribelhorn will share the studio with Stefania from today. The two companies will continue to work with their respective clients but also collaborate on bigger projects. Johan Cnattingius and Stefania Malmsten have worked together on various assignments since the early nineties and most recently with Liljevalchs.

This is the new website for art director and graphic designer Stefania Malmsten and her studio. The website was developed with and constructed by AGoodID.

The 51st International Art Exhibition, La Biennale, opened in Venice on 6 June. The set of catalogues for the Nordic Pavilion were designed by Stefania Malmsten with Jacob Huurinainen.

The Studio is currently working on the campaign for Rodebjer S/S 2006; the annual art show Vårsalongen 2006 at Liljevalchs and the graphics for a documentary on soul legend Billy Paul with production company Story. Among other projects is a book with photographer Emanuel Almborg and the follow up to Watkins’ Heroine.
